Arsenal: 2 - River Plate: 1 - Torneo Apertura 2007

River lost 2-1 today to Arsenal de Sarandi. Unfortunately, I was not able to see the match, forcing me to minimize my comments on the game.

We started off well, parcially winning 1-0 with a goal by Marco Ruben. But the home side was able to tie the match in the second half and eventually win it in overtime (goal by ex-River player Javier Gandolfi). The rain was said to be a huge disadvantage to the game play, and supposedly ruined some of River's plays.

With both Independiente and Boca Juniors winning (3-0 vs. Huracan and 2-0 vs. Olimpo, respectively), we are now 4 points away from the first place spot. Some positive news: Ariel Ortega, Radamel Falcao Garcia, and Alexis Sanchez are all scheduled to return for Sunday's match vs. Lanus.

For those of you that are still interested in a longer, more in-depth review, feel free to check out Cristian's River Plate blog.
